Kids across Norway LOVE gløgg. It is a traditional Christmas drink and not the same thing as mulled wine. They have similar drinks in other countries but they are usually made with wine. In Norway gløgg is not alcoholic but you can add wine to it…and most grown-ups do.
Place the grape juice, orange juice, water, cinnamon stick, whole cloves, chopped cardamom pods, and orange zest into a large stock pot and bring to a boil.
Turn down the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
Remove from the heat and cool for 15 minutes.
Strain out the spices.
Serve the gløgg warm with 1 teaspoon each chopped almonds and raisins. The nuts and raisins go into the glass and get all soft and juicy and you eat them with a spoon while drinking your warm cozy drink.
